Install Cisco AnyConnect on Ubuntu

More and more, employees wish to work on corporate laptops as well as personal mobile devices from anywhere. With the Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client, you can empower your employees to do this and still provide the security necessary to help ensure that your organization is safe and protected. Cisco AnyConnect is a unified security endpoint agent that delivers multiple security services to protect the enterprise. It also provides the visibility and the control you need to identify who and which devices are accessing the extended enterprise. Cisco AnyConnect wide range of security services include functions such remote access, posture enforcement, web security features, and roaming protection. Cisco AnyConnect gives your IT department all the security features necessary to provide a robust, user-friendly, and highly secure mobile experience.


Cisco AnyConnect Client is an SSL VPN client which provides VPN functionalities with other features that enable an enterprise to secure its endpoints. In an ideal use case, you’ll use Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client to connect to a Cisco SSL VPN server. There is an open source creation called OpenConnect.


Download AnyConnect Client:

Login with your Cisco account credentials and download the latest anyconnect-linux64* package at https://software.cisco.com/download/home.

anyconnect-linux64-XXXXXX-predeploy-k9.tar.gz

Installing:

cd anyconnect-linux64-*/

cd vpn

sudo ./vpn_install.sh

The installer script will create a systemd service unit file and enable it to start at boot.


Launch Cisco AnyConnect:

For Desktop, launch Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client from your Desktop. When prompted to enter login credentials, input your username and password to be connected.

Your VPN connection should be active. Confirm connection by checking IP address details and routes.
